How do I repair a flat tyre?

Are you asking yourself any of the following questions: Is my tyre repairable? Is a punctured tyre still reliable after being repaired? Is it possible to repair a run-flat tyres? If so, read on...

Depending on the damage, your tyre may not be repairable.

  • If you've driven flat, this can cause irreparable damage to the structure. A run-flat tyre can be repaired if you haven't driven on it...
  • If the tyre has been pierced by a foreign object, the hole must be smaller than 6mm in diameter.
  • Tears cannot be repaired.
  • The sidewall of the tyre must be intact.

If your tyre is repairable, there are two possible repair methods (of varying difficulty/reliability).

External repair:

  1. Insert the rasp into the hole to prepare for the insertion of the needle.
  2. Put a repair strip covered in glue into the needle.
  3. Insert the repair strip and gently remove the needle.
  4. Cut off the excess on the outside of the tyre.

Repair complete!
